In response to the proposed move of the post office into W.H. Smith, Martin Tod commented:

Martin Tod and Winchester Liberal Democrats marching to support the Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester

Martin Tod, local Lib Dem campaigner, has already began working hard to support our hospital, begin pushing for improvements to Winchesters pavements and is now working to keep Crown Post Office services in Winchester

"Moving the post office into Smith's might be a good idea in some city's, but how will it work in Winchester? Without a new site, their plans will just cause even more traffic chaos in St George's Street. And Smith's often has long queues already - even before adding a post office. The risk is that they'll just end up combining the two longest queues in Winchester.

My experience of campaigning against post office closures is that post office management are not good at listening. We will need to take a strong line to ensure that local people's concerns are addressed."

The Liberal Democrats have launched a website - savewinchesterpostoffice.com where local people can have their say about the proposed plans.
