Winchester Lib Dem team celebrating success in County Council elections

GREENER, Fairer, Safer - Our Pledges to You!

8.15.24pm BST (GMT +0100) Tue 1st May 2007

With the 2007 Local Elections on 3rd May, Winchester Liberal Democrats have put together nine key pledges that we know are achievable and will make the local Winchester District an even better place in which to live.

We hope that you like what we believe are your wishes and visions of how Winchester should progress in the next few years.

GREENER

We will recycle more - taking kitchen waste out of your bins on a weekly basis.

We will improve the energy efficiency of offices and homes.

We will protect our town and village green edges.

FAIRER

We will keep Council Tax increases below the retail price index.

We will work to provide a range of housing for all ages and needs, so that our young and old can stay near to their families.

We will make more affordable houses available for rent, because our young residents want to remain residents without living at home.

SAFER

We will modernise and expand the Council's CCTV system.

We will campaign for lower speed limits where residents want them, particularly outside our schools.

We will increase the number of neighbourhood wardens and share their positive effects by expanding them into the towns and villages of our area.
