Third-year teaching student at the University of Winchester, Deborah English, has won an iPod from Winchester Liberal Democrats.

Anyone who returned a recent Lib Dem student survey was entered into a draw to win the Apple iPod Shuffle.

Winchester Lib Dem Martin Tod said: "We promised that one of the students that answered our survey would win an iPod. Here it is as promised. The survey got an encouraging response. People who answered were very positive about Winchester and appreciated the chance to have their say. Students told us about several areas that they would like to see made safer and our councillors are working with the council and the police to see what can be done as a result. Unsurprisingly perhaps, they backed our policies on the environment and scrapping tuition and top-up fees. Although Debbie had asked for a silver iPod if she won, the most popular colour in our survey was actually purple!"
