CAMPAIGN SUCCESS - Quiet at last

Great news - quieter surfaces are coming to the M3!

After a long running campaign by Jackie Porter and the Liberal Democrats, the M3 will be resurfaced between junctions 9 and 14.

"This is great news for local people whose lives have been blighted by road noise," said Jackie Porter, Prospective Winchester & Chandler's Ford MP.

The Highways Agency have agreed to resurface the M3 between junctions 9 and 14. This work will be completed between 2015 and 2017, it was previously thought that it would not be done until after 2020. The resurfacing will cover all three lanes and the hard shoulder.

Over 350 people have backed Jackie's campaign to reduce the noise.

Mike Thornton and Jackie Porter discuss M3 noise

Jackie commented: "I have been campaigning to address this blight on local people since before the last general election.

"Working with Lib Dem Eastleigh MP Mike Thornton, I have been able get the Treasury to pay special attention to our badly affected local area.

"There is still work to do, quieter surfaces will not address the problem completely. I will continue campaigning to combat the issue of road noise.

"Please share this page friends to tell them the good news!"

How bad is the noise?
