Five years of Conservative failure - time for a change

After five years of the Conservatives running Winchester City Council, a long list of failures shows it's time for a change.

Here are just some of ways the Conservatives have let local residents down:

  • Recycling has plummeted from 27% to just 22% of all household waste

  • Student housing is taking over yet more family homes on our estates and even in more rural areas

  • We’re still waiting for affordable homes and a bus terminus at Silver Hill

  • Barton Farm is on hold with no sign of affordable homes or a new school yet

  • No commitment to a new leisure centre whilst the old one crumbles and the waiting list for children’s lessons grows

  • No new cycle routes

  • More traffic in the main streets, polluting our air

Local people deserve much better. That's why the Liberal Democrats have set out clear commitments:

  • For a greener council

  • For a council that listens

  • For housing for everyone
