Danny Chambers speaks to Rotary on Superbug Threat
Winchester MP Danny Chambers joined Winchester Rotary at an event highlighting the growing global threat of antimicrobial resistance (AMR), often known as the fight against "superbugs".
The event raised funds for research into tackling drug-resistant infections while bringing together local residents, healthcare professionals and campaigners to raise awareness of one of the biggest long-term challenges facing global healthcare.
As a former veterinary surgeon, Danny has been a leading voice on antimicrobial resistance in Parliament. Earlier this year, he used Prime Minister's Questions to highlight the growing threat of antibiotic-resistant bacteria emerging from the war in Ukraine and urged the Prime Minister to support the use of rapid diagnostic tests to help tackle the spread of these dangerous infections.
The fundraiser demonstrated Winchester's commitment to supporting vital medical research and keeping the fight against antimicrobial resistance high on the public agenda.
